Studies show that kids who feel close to their families are less likely to drink and use drugs, so the Be the Parents program tasked us with a way to help families stay connected.
We created a card game called Convo Cards (in English and Spanish) to spur lively conversations between parents and their kids. The card deck features fun questions and colorful illustrations that have made a positive impact across the state. Schools, health districts, and other community organizations distribute them, and the feedback has been phenomenal: moms are saying that they use them on car rides and at the dinner table, and one mom even teared up, saying it’s really helped her feel closer to her kids.
